Based out of Scarborough, Ontario, Bhagy’s Bakehouse is Masterchef alum Andre Bhagwandat’s passion for baking turned business. As Andre started creating his menu, he knew he had to have packaging that reflected the vision he had for the business. After a quick chat with LeKAC, we were able to help bring his vision to life!
We visited Andre at Bhagy’s Bakehouse to talk about his packaging journey with LeKAC and see what’s in store for Bhagy’s. Read on to learn more!
About Bhagy’s Bakehouse

Bhagy’s Bakeshop was founded through Andre’s newfound love of baking. After two runs on Masterchef Canada, he began baking out of a commercial kitchen in 2021. At the time, Bhagy’s was Cookie Box by Chef Andre, featuring four cookie flavours and Andre delivering the cookies by hand across the Greater Toronto Area.
In 2022, Bhagy’s made its debut starting with cookies (of course) and crispy treat bars. Later that same year, mini and eventually full-size cakes were added to the menu, expanding Bhagy’s offerings. The new bakery features a takeout window where customers can come pick up their sweet treats to go!
After connecting with us on Instagram, Andre was ready to get started on his custom packaging journey! He scheduled an in-person meeting with our Business Development Consultant, Phil at our Markham office and they got to work!

The Issue
Before Bhagy’s, there was Chef Andre’s Cookie Box. As Andre’s first cookie business, he started with brown Kraft boxes with stamped logos. He knew that with Bhagy’s, the packaging had to be the right fit for the business and he needed it as soon as he could get it!
Though Andre wasn’t sure what kind of packaging he was looking for at first, our consultant Phil helped present options that would stand out and be unique. Andre came to LeKAC with some branding in mind, but wanted the packaging to be different and most importantly: have a retro aesthetic!
Going Retro
At first, we began with one product for Andre’s cookies. Based on some initial mockups that Andre brought to us, our graphic designer created three versions of our double-walled folding carton for him to choose from. The first two were based directly off these renders, while the third included some creative direction from our graphic designer.
Overall, the team at Bhagy’s Bakehouse loved version 3, with the small addition of their socials to the front flap. After a couple months of using just the boxes for cookies and their 3 inch mini cakes, Andre was ready to make a big move… To 7 inch cakes! This called for a bigger box that could accommodate for the larger cakes while still showcasing them.
As a solution to this, Phil presented the square tulip box! This box features a design that can unfold to be completely flat, and a handle for easy carrying! In terms of design, Andre wanted to keep the same colour blocking idea as the cookie boxes, but wanted his cake box to have a 90’s fast food kid’s meal vibe.

Growing up eating these kids meals, our team immediately knew what he was looking for and got to work. Our graphic designer came up with fun, interactive puzzles that customers could play after they finished with their cake. We also eventually transitioned this interactive design to Bhagy’s paper bags for continuous branding!

The Results & Andre’s Experience Working With LeKAC
With everything together, we helped Bhagy’s create a cohesive, retro packaging family! We added a matte lamination finish to the outside of the boxes for an extra tactile feel.

Altogether, Andre’s favourite part of working with us was our efficiency! Between constant communication with Phil and clear direction to our graphic designer, bringing Andre’s cookie-vision to life was a seamless process.
You guys take your job seriously […] and you care about what you’re going to produce.
